3 Ideas for Girls’ Night Out

I went to a music festival in Phoenix with my gal pals a couple weeks ago and had the best time. It was so good to catch up and be silly and spend the quality time that our busy schedules don’t usually allow for. Because not every weekend can be a long weekend in the sunshine, I’ve been looking for fun, local ideas for a night out with friends. Here’s what I’ve come up with:

The art show date.

Art shows are a great place to catch up with friends over a glass of wine. Throw on a pair of heels (or not – you be you, boo) and admire art while you enjoy appies. Coming up next week in Calgary, Sheila Kernan at Gibson Fine Arts. Sheila has done incredible 3D pieces of some of the best views in Alberta, and she’s showing and selling the collection on Friday, November 17. No cover, and wine and appetizers are on the house.

What:             Gibson Fine Art Presents Sheila Kernan: “The Stories We Tell”
When:            Friday, November 17, 2017 5 – 8 p.m.
Where:           Gibson Fine Art Gallery – 628 11Th Avenue SW Calgary, AB

The shopping party.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of SalvEdge Boutique. While I was there picking up a few pieces a couple weeks ago, I learned that SalvEdge does super cool Sip and Shop Parties that are perfect for a girls’ night out. Here’s how it works: book an evening after 6pm for you and seven friends to shop the store in private. As the host, you’ll get 15% off your purchase that night and SalvEdge will provide the wine!

I’ve teamed up with SalvEdge to give you and a friend a $25 gift certificate each. Follow both me and SalvEdge on Instagram (@emmastevens_ and @salvedgefashion), like the post on my feed and tag a friend! Tag other friends in individual comments for more chances to win.

The Victoria Park night out.
I love living in Calgary’s Beltline district, specifically in Victoria Park. It’s close to everything and there’s no shortage of delicious things to eat and drink. A few of my favourite spots in the area:

Bar von der Fels
This is an excellent little winebar on 1 St SW, between 10 Ave and 11 Ave SW. Reserve a table in advance just to be safe, cause there’s only room for about 15.

Ten Foot Henry
This place is delicious. Get the tomatoes and whipped feta. Everything on the menu is delicious but the tomatoes and whipped feta will change your worldview.

Shelter
Shelter is a fallout shelter-inspired cocktail bar marked only by a black flag out front. There are bedazzled gas masks on the wall behind the bar, and the Spam and Ichiban appetizers are inventive and delicious.
